PSHE at Cromwell

A strong focus on Personal, Social and Emotional development begins in the Foundation Stage through a distinct approach to nurturing and good behaviour. Adults model the desired behaviour and share these strategies with parents we operate nurture groups where each child feels they belong to a small family - Key worker groups.

The PSHE curriculum covers aspects related to personal, social , emotional, health and economic issues that affect the lives of young people and the communities they live in . Many of the lessons and activities are delivered by class teachers, on occasions some are delivered by specialists. For example: Team building skills (Team building coaches). Football coaching (Michael Nelson)   There is a huge emphasis on raising awareness and encouraging discussion about local and international issues which is done through the regular watching of  BBC Newsround,  Mrs Darr’s Monday assembly and  reflection time in class. Children are also encouraged to look at economic issues, ways of saving and managing budgets.  The School Council allows pupils to express their views and raise any concerns they have about what is happening in school.

In all of our  PSHE delivery we seek to develop the emotional well-being of all our children which we believe is at the heart of leading a positive, resilient and optimistic lifestyle.
